2012: Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, and Macedonia projected to join the EU
Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia have each signed a Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the European Union in recent years, in order to
prepare for entry into the Union between 2012 and 2015. While establishing an SAA is an important first step to joining, domestic problems will need to be addressed and reforms will need to be
implemented in all of these countries in order for negotiations to proceed.
