2011: Release of DSM-V
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) is a publication used by the majority of mental health specialists in the United States.
Published by the American Psychiatric Association, it is a quick source of information
for professionals from the rarest to most common mental health disorders. It also helps
to standardize both diagnosis and treatment of such problems. The current version, the DSM-IV, was released
in 1994 and reflects studies up until 1992. An updated version of it, DSM-IV-TR, was published in 2000, and work on DSM-V is now underway. The new manual will be completely re-written to reflect the
clinical and scientific advances made over the last 17 years. For more information on DSM-IV, click
