2010: Review Conference of the parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT)

Enacted in 1970 with the cooperation of 189 international parties, the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons Treaty was designed to initiate and promote global nuclear non-proliferation. In 1995, the Treaty was permanently extended with a 5-year review stipulation. The next Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference will be held in 2010.
