2010: Heart disease will be responsible for the greatest number of deaths in the developing world
1/3 of all deaths across the globe are caused by cardiovascular disease, making it the leading cause of death in humans. Including heart disease and stroke, cardiovascular disease is attributed to a number of risks, many associated with an unhealthy lifestyle. Such risks include obesity, inactivity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tobacco and alcohol use and lack of nutrients.
Currently, heart disease the is leading cause of death in developed countries. By 2010, heart disease is expected to surpass HIV/AIDS and respiratory infections to become the leading cause of death in developing countries.
