2010: AIDS will have orphaned 25 million children since the beginning of the pandemic
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is not only the leading cause of death in Africa, but it is a global epidemic. The virus has become a prominent cause of death globally. Despite the current global efforts to research, prevent, control and treat HIV/AIDS, the UN projects that AIDS will orphan 25 million children around the world by 2010.
