Parliamentary elections will be held in June 2009 in the 27 member states of the European Union. EU citizens will
elect 736 members to the European Parliament, making these the biggest transnational elections to ever take place.
They will also be the first ones to feature the participation of new EU member states Bulgaria and Romania.
